Accessibility problems,in the channel you already read.

Inclusify watches your site and posts what changed into Slack. Every alert carries the finding and a button that files the Jira ticket on the board that site already uses, so a regression goes from noticed to owned without anybody opening a dashboard. And when you want to know something, you can just ask.

What arrives in Slack.

Three kinds of message and four switches, per website. Quiet by default: only the first is on when you connect, because an accessibility bot that posts on every scan gets muted in a week.

New issues found

A page you monitor picked up problems it did not have before. One message per site per scan pass, naming the pages, the failing checks and the score movement. This is the only alert switched on by default.

Critical issues only

Narrows the alert above to the pages that picked up a new critical failure. It does not add a second message: with both switched on you still get one alert, covering less. Off by default.

Scan finished

A full-site scan completed, with the score, the page count and how it compares with the previous scan. Off by default, because a scheduled scan finishing is predictable.

Score dropped

The site score fell by more than the number of points you set. Off by default, and silent when scan messages are already on, since those carry the movement anyway.

Alerts close themselves. When the pages an alert named are back to the score they held before, Inclusify says so in that alert’s own thread, so the channel ends up showing work finishing rather than only work arriving. Anything can be muted for a week from the message itself.

A ticket, from the message.

Every alert carries a Create Jira ticket button. It files the same ticket the Inclusify dashboard files, on the board that website is already configured for, with one entry per issue pattern rather than one per element. Connecting Jira is a separate step in Inclusify, and the button explains itself if you have not done it.

And a command, when you want to ask

  • /inclusify score gives the accessibility score for the website this channel reports on, or name another one: /inclusify score example.com.
  • /inclusify scan starts a full-site scan, up to three a day per website.
  • /inclusify help lists the lot.

Answers are private to whoever asked. The channel only ever sees the alerts you switched on.

Installing it.

Three steps, and the only thing you need to have decided is which channel each website should report to. There is no API key to create and nothing to paste.

  1. Sign in to Inclusify

Slack posts about the websites in your Inclusify workspace, so the connection starts there. If you do not have an account yet, creating one is free.

  2. Open Integrations and choose Slack

Click Add to Slack. You will be sent to Slack to pick the workspace and approve the permissions, then returned to Inclusify.

  3. Choose a channel per website

On each website's page in Inclusify, pick the Slack channel it reports to and which events are worth interrupting for. One install covers every website in your workspace, so an agency connects once and points each client site at its own channel.

You will know it worked twice over: Inclusify shows the workspace name against a Connected badge on the Integrations page, and the channel you choose gets a short confirmation message the moment you save it. If that message does not appear, the channel is wrong or the app has not been invited to it, and Inclusify says which.

Or just ask it.

Open Inclusify from your Slack sidebar and ask in plain language. The answer comes from your own latest scans, so “is our checkout usable with a keyboard” gets an answer about your checkout rather than a summary of WCAG.

Things worth asking

  • “How accessible is example.com right now?”
  • “What should we fix first?”
  • “Has the score moved since last month?”
  • “Is anything stopping the scans from running?”

And it can act

Three things it can change, and only three: file a Jira ticket on the board that website already uses, set which board a website files to, and start a full-site scan - the same one /inclusify scan runs, under the same cap of three a day. Everything else is reading, and by construction rather than by instruction: it reaches your data as a service caller that is refused every tool declaring a write, which is why the three it may do had to be listed by hand. It will also not tell you a site is compliant or accessible, because automated checks cannot establish that and we would rather say so than sell it.

It lives where you work.

Three smaller things that mean you rarely have to go looking for the dashboard.

A tab of your own

Open Inclusify in the sidebar and see every website, its score, the channel it reports to and which alerts are on.

Links expand

Paste an Inclusify link into any channel and it unfurls into that site’s current score, so nobody has to open it to answer the question.

Alerts that close

When the pages an alert named recover, Inclusify says so in that alert’s own thread, so the channel shows work finishing rather than only work arriving.

What Inclusify can and cannot see.

The app asks for the narrowest set of permissions that lets it do the job, and none of them include reading what your team writes.

It can

  • Post messages to the channels you choose.
  • List your channels, so you can pick one from a menu.
  • Receive the /inclusify command when somebody types it.
  • Read the questions you type to it directly, which is how the assistant answers.

It cannot

  • Read any channel. It requests no history permission for channels, private channels or group messages, so it never sees what your team writes to each other.
  • See a private channel it has not been invited to.
  • Change anything in Slack. In Inclusify it can do only the three things named earlier - file a ticket, set a website’s Jira board, start a scan - and it cannot add monitored pages, change a widget setting, or touch your site, your catalogue or your theme.

Removing the app in Slack, or disconnecting it in Inclusify, revokes the access token and stops every message. What we store, how long we keep it and how to ask for it to be deleted is in our privacy policy. Questions go to support@inclusifyapp.com.
